The Northman, one of the best movies of 2022, is streaming for free on Peacock

Just a month after the film’s release, Universal Pictures ‘Focus Features’ announced the Robert Eggers movie’s success Northman Now streaming on Peacock for Free. The film is based on the critically acclaimed director of The Witch and The Lighthouse, which stars Alexander Skarsgård as a viking seeking revenge. The film’s cast also includes heavyweights Nicole Kidman, Claes Pang, Anya Taylor-Joy, Ethan Hawke, Bjork, and Willem Dafoe. Skarsgård has previously revealed to us how deep his personality goes, telling us, “It’s in my blood.”

“I grew up in Sweden,” Skarsgård said earlier this year. “I grew up literally surrounded by runes. So it’s been a dream since I was a boy. And about 10 years ago I started thinking about trying to put together a Viking movie. I’ve never seen such a great honest depiction of the Vikings age, the Viking age, Norse mythology, how they lived and how they related to the gods , and the spiritual world. And I was excited about the possibility of trying to make a big epic movie, but that held true for the ancient epics.”

As of this writing Northman It has an 89% approval and a “certified fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes with over 340 reviews on file. Critical consensus says: “A bloody revenge saga, a breathtaking visual marvel, Northman Director Robert Eggers found it expanding without sacrificing any of his signature style. But audiences were less pleasant, with a rating of 64%, with the audience consensus adding, ‘You might get frustrated if you’re expecting something straightforward. ComicBook.com’s official review, awarded by critic Patrick Kavanaugh 4 out of 5, written in part:

“Northman Fulfilling her promise of the Chaos of the North, she manages to satiate the most bloodthirsty crowd, while Eggers use all the tools at his disposal to elevate the concept into a terrifying saga of blood and broken skulls. Even while fulfilling the promise of the introduction, the film falters a little when it tries to deliver more than that setting, but by holding onto that narrative urgency, the experience strips the adventure of other artworks that have dominated the genre.”

Northman joins a growing list of Universal assets that have transitioned from playing in theaters to streaming on Peacock, following Michael Bay’s Ambulane and drama The Outfit.
